EuropEC 2026 marks the third edition of SPE's revived European flagship (after 2024 Turin + 2025 Vienna). The Istanbul venue bridges Europe / Middle East / Caspian operator communities — a different audience profile than the Vienna 2025 edition.

Why Istanbul is interesting

  • Türkiye is undergoing a natural-gas exploration boom in the Black Sea — Sakarya gas field discoveries since 2020
  • Caspian + Central Asia operators (Azerbaijan SOCAR, Kazakhstan KazMunayGas) are accessible by short flights
  • Middle Eastern NOCs are increasingly viewing Türkiye as a partnership hub — multiple ADNOC + Saudi Aramco joint announcements expected at EuropEC

EarthScan plans

Tarry will attend. Possible technical paper submission on the EAN-DDA work, but EuropEC 2026 is more of a business-development opportunity than a research-presentation venue for us. The operator audience here aligns with our growth thesis: NOCs and mid-tier operators looking to upskill their AI capabilities without building large in-house teams.

What we'll watch

  • TPAO (Türkiye Petroleum) digital strategy presentations
  • SOCAR Türkiye + Caspian-region operator booths
  • Geothermal track — Türkiye has the largest geothermal capacity in Europe, growing fast
